Although the organization of Trinity Lutheran Church was not completed until May of 1920, the history of Lutheran church work in Lewiston goes back as far as 1907. From that time occasional services were held by visiting pastors. Through the efforts of Rev. A. Wolff of Genesee, Idaho, the Spokane Conference was persuaded to ask the Mission Board of what is now known as the American Lutheran Church to call a resident pastor to Lewiston for the beginning of a mission church. Grace Lutheran, sponsored by Trinity Lutheran of Lewiston, began as a mission church under the leadership of Rev. Paul Daneker. On May 11, 1952 a groundbreaking ceremony was held at the present church site in Lewiston Orchards. The opening service was held on October 26, 1952, the day of dedication. The formal organization of Grace Lutheran took place at this time with 31 confirmed members who transferred from Trinity Lutheran. The parsonage was dedicated in December of 1954. ...
